Johor Baru City Council conducts disposal of seized electronic cigarettes
JOHOR BARU, 24 January 2024
Johor Baru City Council conducted the disposal of electronic cigarettes or better known as vape, from previous seizure operations in the city
The council, in a Facebook post dated Jan 22, said the seizures were made under the provisions of the 2016 Licensing of Trades, Businesses, and Industries By-Laws (MBJB).
As widely known, the prohibition on the sale of electronic cigarettes in the state of Johor has been in effect since Jan 1, 2016. The recent disposal targeted the seized goods from 62 cases involving premises that engaged in the sale of electronic cigarettes.
A total of 1.05 tonnes of electronic cigarettes were disposed of using environmentally responsible e-waste disposal methods. The disposal activity was attended by the Disposal Inspection Board, the Fire and Rescue Department, and SWM Environment.
In the post, the council said it will continue to carry out enforcement operations against the sale of 'vape' products in Johor Baru. City residents, especially business premise owners, are reminded to comply with the laws.
