SWM: SPECIAL OP IN 89 HOTSPOTS DURING AIDILFITRI TO PREVENT UNCONTORLLED GARBAGE PILES
Melaka, 15 April 2023
MELAKA: SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) will give special attention to garbage collection in 89 hotspots in Melaka state to prevent uncontrolled piles of rubbish during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
Its corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the focus would be on high-density areas celebrating Aidilfitri, as well as tourist spots, with 53 of the locations in Melaka Tengah, 15 in Alor Gajah, and 21 in Jasin.
"Besides centralised garbage bin collection, SWM Environment will also focus operations on scheduled collection of domestic waste and at public markets as well as in the city centre and public places, and at beaches.
"The special operations will be from April 17 to 24 involving 651 workers and 113 machines with various uses," he told reporters at a breaking of the fast event with the media and a briefing related to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Strategic Operations here last night.
Mohd Norlisam added that his team expects solid waste generation to increase during this year's Aidilfitri celebrations compared to last year, reaching more than 250,000 tonnes.
