SOUTHERN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION MOBILIZES TO CLEAN UP DISASTER-STRICKEN AREAS IN 6 COUNTIES AND COLLECTS 160 TONS OF POST-DISASTER GARBAGE

As of today, Southern Environmental ProtectionCompany (SWM) has carried out the cleaning up of flood garbage inthe 6 most severely flooded counties in the state. It has collected andcleaned up 160 tons of post-disaster garbage, many of which are large furniture.
The general manager of the association, Mohd Norris Sangfa, issued a
statement today stating that the company mobilized a total of 100
frontline workers to clean up the rubbish after the disaster in Kluang,
Johor Bahru, Segamat, Kulai, Mersing and Kota Tinggi in stages. For the work, about 30 open-top dump trucks and bulldozers were dispatched, and the above-mentioned work was carried out with the full cooperation of the Solid Waste Management Agency (SWCorp) and
various local governments.
So far, 160 tons of post-disaster garbage, including large furniture, has been collected and cleared at major flood sites in six counties.

He said that at the same time, since the flood hit, the company has also mobilized about 60 workers and dispatched compactors to about 220 evacuation centers to provide garbage collection and waste removal work and set up roller garbage barrels, including temporary dredging centers located on the outskirts.
