MELAKA STREET CLEANSING WORK PASSED ON TO JKR

...

MELAKA, 18 November 2020 The street cleansing services offered by SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) in Melaka for 1,062 municipal roads was passed on to the Public Works Department (JKR) in January. SWM Environment corporate general manager, Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin, said in a statement today that this responsibility was handed over in accordance with the directive from the Housing and Local Government Ministry to solid waste and public cleansing management concession companies. “According to the National Solid Waste Management Department (JPSPN) and Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp), the street cleaning service has been removed from their scope of work … as the roads are under the jurisdiction of JKR and outside the scope of the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 672,” he said. He said the service -- use of the road sweeper machine, rubbish collection, grass cutting and drain cleaning -- has been discontinued for 231 JKR roads in Johor and 156 JKR roads in Negeri Sembilan as well. Thus, complaints and issues can be directed to JKR, while for roads under the responsibility of SWM Environment, call Talian Indahkan Malaysia at 1-800-88-7472 or e-mail: crmkl@swmsb.com, he said - BERNAMA
