JOHOR, 29 January 2025

SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) is fully prepared with over 1,000 machinery-equipped vehicles to manage solid waste.

The company expected an increase in bulk waste, garden waste and recyclables due to Chinese New Year home cleaning activities.

SWM Environment Sdn Bhd’s corporate general manager, Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin, said the company has a workforce of over 4,500 solid waste management and public cleaning service personnel across 15 local authority (PBT) administrative areas in Johor.

“Residents are encouraged to place bulk waste, such as old furniture, garden waste, recyclable materials, and electrical appliances, beside their respective wheeled garbage bins (TSB) or at centralised garbage collection points, with collection scheduled once a week.

“SWM Environment is ready to assist residents with any enquiries, which can be directed through the Indahkan Malaysia hotline at 1-800-88-7472 or via WhatsApp at 012-618 0082 during the festive period,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (Jan 29).

He added that for proper household waste management, residents are advised to refer to the SWM Environment service schedule displayed on service notice boards in their residential areas or on the official website at www.swm-environment.com.

Mohd Norlisam also reminded residents to handle fireworks and firecracker waste safely to prevent injuries to SWM Environment personnel and to avoid damage to wheeled garbage bins.

Any damage to these bins caused by firecracker waste could disrupt domestic waste disposal, affecting collection services and local cleanliness.

He made these remarks after accompanying the Secretary of Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) Azmee Awang, in distributing SWM Kasih food aid boxes to recipients in the Kulai area.

A total of 50 food aid boxes were donated through SWM Kasih, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) entity, as part of the Chinese New Year CSR Programme in collaboration with MPKu and SWM Environment under the K-CEMS 2025 initiative.

Earlier, he had handed over the SWM Kasih contributions to the President of MPKu for distribution to underprivileged families, single mothers, senior citizens, chronic patients, and persons with disabilities (OKU) celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year.

He added that MPKu is SWM Kasih’s strategic partner in Johor this year, aligning with the K-CEMS (Kulai Cemerlang Sejahtera) initiative’s goal of fostering a prosperous community in Kulai.
