JOHOR BAHRU, 20 February 2020 The Johor Southern Region SWM Environment Sdn Bhd has beefed up its measures to protect their personnel who are on duty at areas that are prone to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. The measures taken include in the form of personal hygiene and the required protection for their workers who will be working at tourist-focused locations. SWM Environment Johor region manager, Mohd Zan Arris said the proactive steps were taken to complement the existing safety and health measures of their workers, which was in line with the temporary recommendations issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO). “This is to ensure that all surveillance and preventive activities could be strengthened,” he said after attending a briefing on the prevention of the virus with Mersing District Health Office, which was held recently. Mohd Zan said SWM Environment had prepared an adequate amount of face masks and hand sanitizers while they also collaborated with district health offices to organise briefings on ways to prevent the virus from spreading at all SWM Environment branches. “We will focus on the City Centre Unit personnel at main areas especially the tourist-focused locations. “The approach was made to manage the close contact and prevention of the infectious disease at certain places where our workers will be on duty. “It will be on going without affecting the public cleansing operation where at the same time to accommodate the Visit Johor 2020,” he said.
